Costa Rica's National Emergency Commission explained that a volcanic cloud was released, reaching up to 7500 meters (over 8000 feet) in the air. It was also reported that materials from the volcano’s lagoon were expelled to the northern side of the cone and had reached several surrounding rivers. The explosion occurred at 3:57 in the afternoon, and at this time, there was no further information about the event’s impact or current activity.
